DIDACTICS OF ART
UNDERGRADUATE (Bachelor of Arts)
Educational Objectives
The course in Communication and Art Education aims to ensure a solid mastery of communication methods and practices, as well as the acquisition of specific artistic and professional skills, in order to provide knowledge and methodologies for transmitting and communicating the processes involved in the creation of works of art, their interpretation and enjoyment, particularly in relation to the diverse landscape of contemporary artistic research.
The courses also aim to provide a professional training for managing spaces and tools dedicated to the dissemination of the vast historical, artistic, and cultural heritage, both through traditional means and new multimedia technologies. Special attention is given to museums and exhibition events, whether artistic or focused on scientific and technological dissemination, including the application of multimedia and its tools for art education. Graduates will receive comprehensive theoretical and technical training in methods and content related to communication, exhibition design (including various types of interventions in exhibition spaces), museology and museography, art education, and heritage education. They will also acquire appropriate methodological and critical tools to develop skills in expressive languages, techniques, and advanced technologies.
The program includes the study of an additional European Union language, apart from the mother tongue, specifically within the relevant field of competence, as well as resources for general information exchange and self-updating in it (consultants, texts, tests, and access to computer labs). It also covers the application of IT and telecommunication tools in specific areas of expertise.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the School will carry out professional activities in various public and private sectors as specialists capable of working independently or alongside experts in different areas of cultural heritage, with particular focus on the communicative aspect. This includes organizing and setting up artistic events, preparing communication materials for artistic events (such as press offices and public relations), and engaging in various forms of cultural mediation within contemporary art. They will also be involved in ensuring that museums meet minimum operational standards, working as museum educators and responsible for educational services.
The Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti will organize internships and traineeships in collaboration with agreements and partnerships with local civic museums (from the Museums of Strada Nuova to the Museums of Nervi, the Museum of Contemporary Art at Villa Croce, and the Sala Dogana spaces at the Palazzo Ducale), as well as with private institutions. These opportunities will contribute to the development of specific professional skills. It is also worth highlighting the opportunity for students to regularly engage with the Academy’s Museum, which boasts collections ranging from the 15th to the 20th century, providing a valuable “training ground” for their studies and professional development.
